Ningchentangla Namtso Lake Trek, Namtso Lake Trek or Ningchentangla View Trek is a fabulous trek of traversing the Ningchen Tangla Mountains to the famous holy Lake Namtso. In this trekking, a number of small river stream needs to cross along the way. A tundra-filled upper valley gradually climbs to the Kyang-la (Onager pass), followed by a steep descent onto the Changtang plains. Fantastic views of sparkling Namtso and Tashi Do are visible from many vantage points on the trail.

And colourful drokpa camps nomadic tents dotted along the way. Most tourists who travel to Tibet will drive from Lhasa to visit the heaven lake Namtso. But if you want to see the ecological mosaic of northern Tibet and its splendor is by walking, this trek designed for you to get close encounters with the mysterious drokpa nomad stones, the seminomadic shepherds of the region with their ancient customs and traditions with surrounded views of Mt. Nyingchentangla and the majestic Namtso lake itself are the major atraction of the trek. 

Starting from Reting Monastery founded 900 years before by Reting Rimpoche It is one of the famous monastery of Kadampa lineage which lies northeast of Lhasa city. After a short drive to Damxung the trek starts. This 4 days treks gives you the deep expereince of Nomadic lifestyle, cultural sights and magnificent views of lakes and mountains. Detailed Itinerary

Day1: Arrival in Lhasa

  • Arrive in Lhasa and start acclimatizing to the altitude.
  • Rest and take it easy to adjust to the high elevation.

Day2: Lhasa Sightseeing

  • Explore Lhasa’s cultural and historical sites, such as the Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple.
  • Continue acclimatization.

Day3: Lhasa – Namtso Lake

  • Drive to Namtso Lake.
  • Enjoy the scenic drive and the first views of the beautiful lake.

Day4: Explore Namtso Lake

  • Spend the day exploring and relaxing by the shores of Ningchentangla Namtso Lake.
  • Enjoy the stunning views and the serene environment.

Day5: Namtso Lake – Damxung

  • Drive to Damxung, a town on the way to the starting point of the trek.

Day6: Damxung – Trek Start – Chukkung

  • Drive to the trek starting point and begin the hike.
  • Trek to Chukkung.
  • Trekking Time: 5-6 hours

Day7: Chukkung – Sutu-la Pass

  • Continue trekking towards the Sutu-la Pass.
  • Enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes.

Day8: Sutu-la Pass – Kyatsosum Camp

  • Trek down to the Kyatsosum Camp.

You will stay at  good reviewed  3 star in Lhasa, Shigatse and Gyantse if you prefer better hotel there is always option to upgrade the hotel and if you prefer to book own prefer hotel we are always ready to book for you. There will be camping during trekking period. Our camping tents well maintained two men tents for group members, dining and kitchen tents along with kitchen table and other necessary equipements.

Altitude Problem and Physical Fitness Required

It is a easy trekking, There is no level of physical fitness requirement, everyone could join on the trek. It would be more helpful if you have previous trekking experience as the trail follows average altitude of 4000m one should prepare acordingly. We also advise our guest(s) to consult their doctor for vaccination and other medical requirements before taking the trip. Regular exercise, jugging, stretching and medication or yoga may be good idea before taking the trip.

Meals 

We provide hygenic full board food prepared by our own experienced cook during trekking. All meals during trekking and only breakfast during the driving or touring sessions are included in this trip. We are expected to pay for lunches and dinners in the city in Lhasa on your own. Breakfast will be taken in the same place we stay the night. Similar arrangements can also be made for dinner. Lunch will be taken en route to the next destination(s). It is advisable to budget Yuan 60 to Yuan 100 (USD10 to USD16) for lunch and dinner in a single day. Only basic meal choices like Tibetan bread and tsampa porridge will be available in remote locations. Freshly cooked full board food will be served by trained and experienced cooks on full-board basis during camping.

Recommended Clothing & Accessories

As the tempreture varies greatly between day and night (from Max. 20 degrees celcius to Min. -10 degrees celcius) one should prepare accordingly. Woolen gloves, Balaclava, Sun hat, Thermal wear, Water bottle, Woolen sockes, Personal Towel, Light and Warm parka Jacket, Sunglasses, Sun Cream, Torch with extra batteries, Muffler, Mask, Raincoat, Sweater, T-Shirt, Sleeping bag and comfortable walking shoes are recommended for Ganden to Samye Trekking.

Travel Insurance

Full travel insurance coverage for medicine, Helicopter evacuation, if in case of immergency, lost of belongings and trip cancilation is strongly recommended for this trek.
